Diverse Learning Environments

Infants
Infants are children 6 weeks to 11 months of age.
Based on the unique schedule of each child, our program is an extension of the home. We provide a warm, safe, and stimulating environment for children to grow. Cuddling, rocking, and planned developmental activities are important aspects of the program. Activities are designed to promote language development; fine motor skills including eye tracking and hand-eye coordination; and large motor skills such as crawling, creeping and walking.
We participate in the CACFP Food Program which allows us to supply infants formula and food.

Wobblers and Toddlers
12 months - 35 months
NWCC offers a stimulating and supportive environment. Wobblers and toddlers are eager to investigate materials that appeal to their senses. They are encouraged to expand on vocabulary, increase creativity, cooperate with others, and increase self-awareness and decision-making skills.
Wobblers and toddlers participate in activities such as story time, singing, comparison games and finger play. They are encouraged to investigate areas which contain manipulative toys, blocks, books, dress up and art activities. Weather permitting, the children enjoy outdoor play daily.
When wobblers advance to the toddler room, the curriculum and room structure advances to a more developmentally-appropriate setting with all the above activities.

Preschool
Our preschool classrooms encourage young learners to explore the environment and work with interesting materials. Classrooms are spacious with learning centers for activities such as art, dramatic play, math and science, block building, manipulative toys, reading, and computer technology. Each day includes teacher-guided class activities as well as opportunities for children to learn and play independently.
In the preschool program, your child will begin to develop organization, self-control, and self-awareness, and build pre-reading and pre-writing skills. Preschoolers also learn about being a friend and getting along with other children and adults. During daily outdoor play, children have fun and build strength as they climb, run, balance, throw, pedal, and jump.

Pre-K
One of the most important learning skills children can learn with Pre-K is a love of learning. Pre-kindergarten teachers are trained in making learning exciting. They can show children the adventure found when trying to discover something new. As children experience this excitement and thrill, they are learning skills to help with future reading, math, and history subjects. When children can associate learning with fun and excitement, they are more likely to enjoy learning as they continue through school.
School-Age
NWCC school-age classrooms provide before and after school care for elementary children serving the Northwestern Lehigh School District. We also offer care in-service days and snow days.
To meet the varying needs and interests of school-age children, our program is both educational and recreational. The structure of the program and activities offered reflect the interest of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Students are given challenges to provoke creative thinking and problem solving.
Although time is allocated for doing homework, school-age children may also participate in cooperative games, arts and crafts, computer activities, table games, cooking, dramatic play and/or free play. In addition, children enjoy daily outdoor activities.
